Ismail al-Jazari (1136–1206 CE) was a brilliant inventor, engineer, and polymath from the Islamic Golden Age. Known as the “Father of Robotics and Modern Engineering,” his groundbreaking inventions and mechanical designs laid the foundation for automation and mechanical technology.
• Al-Jazari authored the famous book “The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices” (Kitab fi Ma’rifat al-Hiyal al-Handasiya), which described over 50 mechanical devices, complete with detailed diagrams and instructions.
• He designed advanced water-raising machines, automata, clocks, and intricate mechanisms that combined engineering with artistry.
• His work incorporated practical applications of theoretical knowledge, making engineering accessible and useful for everyday life.
